To become a full
time rv'er takes some time , and a well thought out plan of attack. When we
initially discovered this way of life we knew we wanted to take the plunge to
be able to travel and have freedom from the 9-5 grind. It has taken some trial and error, but we
have finally found a company that we can work for, and travel the US at the
same time! We couldn't believe it at first that such a company actually exists!
The company actually prefers people that want to live out of their RV to travel
the states and work for their company.
Upon initially
contact with the company I spoke with a man who managed all the travelers. He
thoroughly explained the position to us, as well as the company as a whole. He
also sent me links to their competitors company and wanted me to do research on
their company. The traveler manager was very honest and trust worthy, and could
totally relate because he too had been a traveler for the company. So we took
his information and did our own research, and were pleased to start working as
travelers.
The company that we
work for is contracted by local gas companies all throughout the United States.
There are several different positions to do just depending the needs and
location of the project. There is no experience necessary. The company will
train you for the job. The different
positions are all gas meter related. Perhaps you will be swapping out different
technology on the meters, performing safety checks, or you may even be trained
as a gas leak surveyor. All of these positions do require you to use your own
personal vehicle, however you will get reimbursed for your mileage. When
traveling from state to state you will also receive mileage reimbursement at
the rate of .79 per mile. To be eligible for the position you must have a
vehicle with proper insurance and registration as well as a valid driver's
license. To be a part of the traveler work force you must have some type of rv.
The job will require you to work in outdoor conditions, as well as walking, a
lot of walking. We typically walk an average of 8-10 miles a day. We personally
love being outside with nature and it doesn't hurt to get in a little cardio on
the clock. The company does drug test. They also provide benefits for their
employees which include; medical, dental, 401k, paid holidays, paid time
off. The starting pay for the position
is $11.00 an hour and $200 extra per work for being a traveler.
For us this
opportunity was perfect! We are paid for traveling in our rv, being outdoors,
and being able to get some exercise in! We have very little debt and live a
simple way of life so it is more than enough income to sustain out way of life.
We wouldn't trade it for the world. It took us a while to find a source of
steady income to keep us on the road. I wanted to share this information to
anyone who might be looking for a solution as well. If you have any questions
